I finished toning and lettering Raven's Children pages yesterday, so today I've just been working on the cover at a leisurely pace and doing sketches for a new project -- I'm drawing a comic that my sister is writing. No ETA at this point ... we're just in the planning stages.
For the next week or so, I am simply going to relax and unwind. I will be getting my home life under control (washing that huge pile of dishes in the sink, for example). For the first time in months, I will also be sketching for the sheer fun of drawing, as I have been today. My plan for the next couple of years is to work on my skill as an artist. My mom is a huge inspiration to me. She was the person who taught me to paint as a young child, but she had stopped years and years ago -- when I was a kid, she had a box of oil paints that she'd used as a younger woman, but then she went on to be a full-time mom. However, a couple of years ago she started painting again, this time with acrylics, and she's GOOD! Watching her art evolve from a simple folk-art style to near photo-realism over the last couple of years has been an absolute joy for me to observe, and it has reminded me that all you really need to be an artist is dedication and time. I want to be a better artist, and I intend to become pro quality in the next few years.
After kicking back for a week or two, finishing the RC cover and getting some drawing in, I will go back to work on Kismet. I'm going to try to go up to a 3-times-per-week schedule, but I definitely need to get a backlog of pages in order to do that! And Freebird will start up again soon. The Kismet side stories might take longer.
