Fireflyyyyyy
May. 17th, 2004 11:39 pmI can't believe Fox cancelled this show.
Orion and I have been renting the Firefly DVDs from our friendly neighborhood underground video store. We just watched the 3rd DVD. I'd been thinking that there was a whole season of this, but looked up online tonight to find that there are only 14 episodes. Nooooo!
Orion points out that there's always fan fiction, but ... I dunno, I'm surprisingly uninterested in it. I don't think I've ever been so acutely aware that fanfic is not the real thing. I want more *real* Firefly; I want to know what Joss was planning, how the character relationships would have developed, where all the mysteries were pointing. There seem to be rumors floating around the Internet of three movies in development ... and I guess if all else fails, we might get tie-in books carrying on the intended drift of the series, like with Alien Nation.
I love the Mal-Zoe-Wash character dynamic. It's so rare to see a happily yet realistically married couple on TV, and equally rare to see a male/female friendship with no sexual undertones.
Did I mention I can't believe they cancelled this show? There is no justice ...
