Fireflyyyyyy

I can't believe Fox cancelled this show.

Orion and I have been renting the Firefly DVDs from our friendly neighborhood underground video store. We just watched the 3rd DVD. I'd been thinking that there was a whole season of this, but looked up online tonight to find that there are only 14 episodes. Nooooo!

Orion points out that there's always fan fiction, but ... I dunno, I'm surprisingly uninterested in it. I don't think I've ever been so acutely aware that fanfic is not the real thing. I want more *real* Firefly; I want to know what Joss was planning, how the character relationships would have developed, where all the mysteries were pointing. There seem to be rumors floating around the Internet of three movies in development ... and I guess if all else fails, we might get tie-in books carrying on the intended drift of the series, like with Alien Nation.

I love the Mal-Zoe-Wash character dynamic. It's so rare to see a happily yet realistically married couple on TV, and equally rare to see a male/female friendship with no sexual undertones.

Did I mention I can't believe they cancelled this show? There is no justice ...

I'm up to disk 3 of Firefly too and am loving it. I'm pacing myself so I can spread out the enjoyment. The Serenity movie does seem to be a reality so that's really exciting...

Yeah; and one big plus of the move to the big screen is that they'll have a nice big fat budget for f/x -- not that the show's f/x were in any way bad, but I can't wait to see what they do with a big budget and months of shooting time! I just hope they get all the original actors back. *fingers crossed for Wash, Zoe and Jayne especially*

The funny thing is that I watched a little bit of it when it was on TV and thought "meh..." -- it didn't hook me. But seeing all the episodes back-to-back hooked me big-time.
