Orion just called me from the driveway on his cell phone to let me know there are moose out there and to be careful when I'm walking the dogs.

I'm not sure if this is exactly the sort of technology-run-amok that made us NOT get a cell phone for many years, or if it just means that our driveway is too long. (It's 3/4 of a mile long, so the moose could be dancing the can-can down there and I wouldn't know.)

It's gotten dark, and I was sitting upstairs writing (or, more accurately, procrastinating) at my computer when Izzy started making her muffled little "I know I'm not supposed to bark in the house, BUT..." noise downstairs. I came down and found a moose browsing in the pool of light under the living room window. I leaned on the windowsill to look at it. It raised its head with its ears all forward and curious to look back at me. We were on eye level with each other, with about four feet and a window between us. I stared into the moose; the moose stared into me. Then Izzy got a little louder and it turned and trotted off.

That was COOL.
