Update on the Raven's Children TPB
Oct. 30th, 2005 02:30 pmI figured I'd post a note about what's taking so long with the second RC tpb, which was supposed to be out in September. Here's the deal. I was going to use a local printer (actually, the one I work for). I'm still planning on doing this with the Kismet trades -- which is to be my next project once I get Raven's Children put to bed -- but at the affordable price they're giving me, they are only able to do digest size or smaller -- because it must be printed on 8.5x11 paper. I was going to go ahead and do the RC trade at that size, but the more I thought about it, the more I didn't want to do that, because that would create a really painful size mismatch between the first two books. So I dithered and dithered, and finally made the decision that I, personally, would be happier with the books and feel that I was giving out a better product if I print them at the larger size. However, I'd already resized the art and built the book at the smaller size. Now I'm resizing AGAIN and rebuilding from scratch. THE PAIN...!
My plan is to go through an online print-on-demand service with this one -- I'm looking at Dreamweaver Press or Lulu. If I go with Lulu, the turnaround should be pretty quick -- once I get the book rebuilt, I expect I can have the books in hand in a couple of weeks. Dreamweaver takes longer (6 weeks).
