Oct. 4th, 2004 09:15 pmThe more I use Internet Explorer for OS X, the more I hate it. This piece of crap is incompatible with half the websites I try to load -- Livejournal, for example -- and has a tendency to crash in new and exciting ways, such as causing its windows to randomly and inexplicably disappear. Also, it's slow.
Safari is decent -- it's what I'm using at the moment, since I can't post in Livejournal using IE -- but I really hate how it doesn't have a status bar that tells you what it's doing at any given moment. I suppose IE isn't any better, since its status bar never tells you anything more helpful than "loading page". Is Netscape the ONLY browser that actually gives helpful error messages? If your browser hangs for 5 minutes trying to resolve the domain name that's a totally different problem than if it hangs while trying to connect to the site.
Also, WHY does Safari keep asking for access to my Keychain every 5 minutes? What the heck is it trying to DO?
Okay. Rant mode off.
Today has been a good day, mostly consisting of bumming around the house unpacking and organizing my stuff. (Yes, I'm still unpacking.) Orion built me some shelves and, for the first time ever, I think I actually have enough room to spread out all of my creative stuff, art supplies, books, comics, mailing supplies for minicomics, and other junk.
The weather is beautiful and unbelievably warm for this time of year. Almost all the snow has melted off and I think the temperature was in the upper 50s today. We took a short-ish hike down the ditch in the other direction, to see where it goes. It's not nearly as interesting as the other way; it peters out in a scrubby spruce forest after about half a mile.
I bought my snow tires yesterday but can't get them put on until next week because the place is booked solid. But since all the ice is off the roads, it's not such a big deal as it was a week ago, when I was slipping and sliding all over the place.
