Check it out! Free beaver pix!

Anyway, the beaver in question is building a dam in my creek. Specifically, in the culvert just upstream of my property, where the creek goes under First Chance Creek Road.
I went for a walk today and noticed that the creek was muddy and much higher than usual (on the upstream side of the culvert, anyway). On my way back, I saw some willow branches in the edge of the creek moving by themselves, definitely being shoved around by some kind of animal, and I snuck close enough to get some good pictures. The beaver didn't really want to come near the culvert with me standing on it, so after a while I went off and left him to his dam-building in peace.
I suspect that when some authority figure notices him, he'll have a very short and exciting life. But in the meantime, it'll be interesting to watch. It's not like the road is a major thoroughfare ... it's two tire tracks in the weeds that go up to the Fort Knox Mine dynamite storage facility back in the hills (or at least I've been told that's where it goes).
Anyway, I promised beaver pictures.

Okay, enough of this.
