The wildfire smoke is back. Joy. It's almost as bad as it was last summer. You can't even see across our valley, giving an eerie floating-in-space feeling. The actual fires are not nearby; we just have the smoke. The one good thing about it is that it blocks sunlight and knocks the heat down. Before the smoke rolled in, the weather service was predicting 85-90 degrees for today; now it's only in the 70s. But at this point, I'd rather have the heat.

I was going to go berry-picking this weekend -- my father-in-law discovered the Holy Grail of berry-picking up the ravine: oodles of blueberries, and lowbush cranberries very nearly ripe. But in with the heavy smoke and my lingering cough, I dunno if I would enjoy it.

Hey, Lucky is a year old this month. How time flies! It's also been a year since we (well, I) moved into the new house.
