Heaven help me...
Jun. 6th, 2005 12:26 pmEven though I still have my space reservation at SPX, I'm starting to have second thoughts. I've been looking into the logistics of getting there, and ... gads. The best I can get is a 12-hour, $700 plane flight. I had been halfway planning on driving down to Anchorage and flying from there, which shaves a couple hundred bucks off the flight, but with a very limited number of flights to choose from, adding a 7-hour drive to the whole mess means that getting there would be a 2-day trip either way. I'd have to take a week off work just to spend 2 days behind a convention table in Bethesda!
I'm starting to wonder if this is really worth it. I'd love to shmooze with everybody, but unless my sales are stratospheric, the actual number of books I'd sell wouldn't even begin to cover the cost of getting there. I can think of a lot of things I need that money for more than a 2-day non-vacation on the East Coast.
