Some of them just don't make it into the grade school history textbooks for some strange reason. I give you: Priapus, god of fertility and horticulture. (Note: link is not work-safe.) The Romans used this guy as a scarecrow and to scare off thieves. I think *I'd* be scared if I saw this in somebody's garden.

There is a medical condition called priapism which results in a state of continual engorgement of the male...well, just take a guess.
