Heh

Oh my God, they've discovered real-life Kryptonite!

Sort of. Apparently they found a mineral that happens, coincidentally, to match the purely fictitious "pulled it out of our asses" composition of Kryptonite.

But still! This made my inner geek very happy.

Ha! At first I was thinking "wait, didn't they already have this on the periodic table (krypton)?" But its just amazing that it has virtually the same composition as the movie's recipe. Maybe though they should from now on actually have some of the element in the ficticious material, in case they discover it. ^^

Now I just need them to develop adamantium...

It's a freaky coincidence, since obviously they totally made the composition of it up for the movie. Too bad they can't actually call it kryponite (apparently since it's not related to the element krypton, it would violate mineral-naming conventions).

And yes, we definitely need adamantium too!

And don't forget Mithril! I know exactly where it belongs on the periodic table, too. (Atomic number 111, column 1b, in the same family with copper, silver, and gold.)

Ooh, yes! Now they just need to find an old dwarf mine...

That is awesome! even if it's a shame they couldn't actually call it that...

I think it's hilarious that enough people made the connection, though, for it to get on BBC news...
