A cat-astrophe waiting to happen

Shiva (the cat) is so hilarious. And sad. He hates drinking out of the communal water bowl, where the water has been polluted by FILTHY DOGS, even if it's just been changed. This means he'll go to almost any length to get water from alternative sources, such as:

-the bathtub drain
-the dishwater
-the plant watering can
-half-empty glasses of water on the countertop
-my paintbrush water

I mean ... come on, dude. Drinking dog-water is not going to kill you. Phthalo Blue or fertilizer actually *might*.

I feel your pain. My one cat, Spider, will drink out of the toilet rather than his bowl, half the time. I wash it, he gets fresh water daily, go figure. :P

*snort* Yeah, the toilet, I forgot that one. He's actually fallen in a couple of times ...

By the way, did you get the art I emailed to you? It would have been sent about a week ago. I'm not sure if I have the right email addy for you -- I used one from one of your old GAM mailing list posts. I just wanted to double-check and make sure that you got it.

Hey there!

I didn't get the pic, but my spam blocker might have grabbed it. :( Try
sending it again to ldragoon @ spidric DOT com. :)

I'm totally stoked you got assigned to me, because I LOVE Raven's Children. If you ever need fan art for that, just let me know!

I don't know if you remember, but I met you at APE a few years ago. You told me a little bit about growing up in Alaska. :)

- Leigh

P.S. I went ahead and added you to my AIM.

I just sent it to you, so let me know if you don't get it!

And thank you very much for the comments about RC; I *love* By the Wayside and think you're insanely talented, so that makes me very happy. :) Er ... I actually had no idea that we'd met in real life, though; I have a mind like a steel sieve for that sort of thing, alas. It's not you -- it's me.

Why not put a water dish for Shiva up on the counter, where the dogs can't get at it?

He actually does have a water dish upstairs, where his food dish is and where the dogs aren't allowed. I tend to forget to fill it though, because it means having to remember to bring the water upstairs or the dish down, and there's already a perfectly good water bowl in the kitchen. There's no sane reason why he can't drink out of the same bowl as the dogs, since it's always fresh water and gets changed several times a day. Of course, he's a cat; "sane" isn't always a consideration. ;)
