What's Layla up to these days?

Layla is shamelessly neglecting her other projects to work on a novel, that's what. I've got about 45K words done (it's YA, so I'm aiming for somewhere in the 60-80K range). This is why Kismet's been a little rough on the updates this week, and I'm just now finishing up Freebird (to my editor's annoyance).

I kinda wanted to get the rough draft done before I take a break, but I'm starting to run into some plot holes, so it might be about time to put it aside for a little while and let my brain rest. I've been working on this thing obsessively for the last few days -- as in, literally just about every waking minute -- and I think I need to step back a little bit. I'm also becoming acutely aware of my tendency to over-use adverbs. Just read some of my posts to see what I mean. It's even more noticeable in my fiction. I know adverbs are EVIL but they are so seductive, so lovely ... so easy ...

Anyway, that's what I've been doing lately ... writing my novel and, every once in a while, drawing my comics. Oh yeah, and working, but that doesn't really count.

You're amazing, you know that? :) Can't wait to see the finished product.

PS - Tasty adverbs!!

Heh. It is, as suspected, on the back burner again, but I'm starting to think I might actually finish it this year ... assuming it doesn't burn my eyes TOO bad when I go back and re-read it.
