Random observations
(cross-posted from my other journal. You know, I really need to just pick one and shut the other one down. This is getting silly.)
With Orion out of town, my housekeeping skills have gone even more to hell than normal. I don't know how one person who doesn't like to cook can generate this many dirty dishes.
From the "live and learn" files ... some things made with NutraSweet are just as good as the original, sugar-filled item. And some are like paint thinner. Sugar-free spiced cider mix falls into the latter category.
I have major procrastination issues. I have been working on one page of Raven's Children for three days. And I haven't updated this journal in how long?
I do, however, have a new check-every-day webcomic: Dominic Deegan: Oracle For Hire. My sister sent me the link and I read obsessively through the archives. And then read them again. In spite of some flaws (over-heavy reliance on a handful of running gags; somewhat lackluster art) it's just ... one of the most phenomenally *likeable* webstrips I've ever read. It's fantasy-comedy, but it doesn't rehash the same set of D&D jokes like just about every other fantasy-comedy webstrip out there. It's drawn manga-style, but the characters don't sport pseudo-Japanese names, throw random Japanese words into their dialogue, or rip off any particular anime. And, astonishingly, even though it's set up as a gag-strip and some of the strips are laugh-out-loud funny, it has a fairly serious ongoing story, and even more astonishingly, some serious themes -- like dealing with self-esteem issues, being loyal to your friends, overcoming handicaps ... stuff like that.
