Today has been an inside day
I finished one of the more difficult commissions ... one of the ones I had really not been looking forward to (but it didn't turn out that bad). Right now I have several commissions/orders that are just sitting waiting to be packaged up and sent, but it looks like I'm not going to get that done tonight ... you know, I really thought I'd have these done by the middle of December! I'm not complaining about people requesting commissions, don't get me wrong -- I just wish I was a little more prompt in filling them out! At least I've finally gotten the *really* late ones done (although two of those are sitting in the "to mail" pile ... blech, I suck.)
I started working on the website then, and since I got into the swing of it, I basically spent the rest of the afternoon and evening doing long-overdue website maintenance. I got the Raven's Children site totally overhauled and put into its "The series is finished, for now" holding pattern -- the original design was set up to accommodate frequent updates, and looked utterly lost and abandoned without them, whereas now it can sit happily for months and months, until I pick up the project again. I rebuilt the Kismet gallery from scratch since I'd lost everything due to a combination of database failure and stupidity (well, stupidity mostly), and maybe this time I won't have to do it again (yeah, right). The RC gallery is not back up yet -- it's the only part of the site that I haven't done. The Kismet site is now better organized and has a little more stuff than it did before.
I still need to do the Raven's Children gallery, and add the "downloads" page back in, if I decide to keep it -- that's where the wallpaper and stuff was; I deleted it because I didn't like how it was organized, and also because most of those wallpapers were made in 2001 (!!!) and that part of the site has clearly been getting no love. Well, it *has* been getting some love from hotlinkers, which was another reason to delete it. I really don't mind a *few* people hotlinking without asking, it's not something I spend much time policing, but several of the RC wallpapers had ended up getting used on Myspace-type sites and it was sucking down a surprising amount of bandwidth. I admit to deleting the directory with a certain amount of wicked glee.
I also knocked off some of the old directories that had been moved elsewhere, like the old Kismet archives. I *think* that everything in there got moved to Webcomicsnation back in October. Be on the lookout for broken links in weeks to come ... I'm sure there will be some.
Tired. Off to bed.
