Catlet!

So, on Wednesday, one of my co-workers got a call at work from his wife. Their 4-month-old kitten had bitten their toddler, and she was packing up the cat to take it to the pound. I'd been halfway wanting a cat anyway, so I asked him if she could wait while I called Orion and asked if he minded us getting a cat.

And so...

He's really a sweet little cat, but he does play rough and I can see how you wouldn't want to have this particular cat playing with a 5-year-old who also plays rough. He's also an amazing color; I'm not sure how well you can tell from the photos, but he's gray with orange-tipped fur, and with the spots and stripes, looks like a little ocelot.

He still doesn't have a name. The child had named him Prince Whiskers, which is clearly not going to be his name in THIS house. (I told the guy I got him from that he was now the Cat Formerly Known as Prince.)

He rules the dogs with an iron paw. I actually stayed up 'till 1 a.m. on Friday because I couldn't stop watching him bullying the dogs; it was hilarious, because he's not TRYING to, and the dogs are 15 times his size -- he just wants to play, so he jumps around and runs at them, and the dogs jump around and try to get away. Yesterday Lucky scrambled onto Orion's lap, all 45 lbs of him, trying to get away from a little cat with a body the size of my hand.

Now that is a neat-looking cat. Love the markings.

"Ocelot" would actually be kind of a cool name... "Ozzy" for short?
