Once upon a blue moose
... well, a SPOTTED moose. Driving to work on Thursday morning, we saw something that we have never seen in nearly 30 years of living in Alaska: a half-white moose. At first I thought there was snow on it (we have had some snow up on the hills, though very little down in town). But it was clearly its natural coloration. Its ears were white, and its hind legs, and it was splashed and spotted with white all across its face and down its back and sides. Like a pinto horse.
Orion had his camera, but the pictures are incomprehensible: it was nearly dark, so all you can see is a blotchy blur. Too bad. It was still a neat moment.
I spent most of this week in Kodiak, so there will be pictures from that once I get them uploaded and sorted later today.

It seems like that would not be entirely safe...
