Some recent summer pictures

Orion's dad has been up here for the last week or so to help work on the garage.

The outer wall in the late-evening sun (and by late evening I mean, oh, 11 p.m. or so)

Look out! Hail! You can't really see it in this picture, but it was falling so hard and fast that you could barely see across the yard -- wet hail mixed with rain.

Today the hard-working construction crew put up the rafters.

I actually worked in my garden a little bit today. It's not much this year ... some strawberry plants (which the birds have been eating the strawberries from), some lettuces, and I planted a few rows of carrots and spinach today, which should at least get big enough to eat before the September frosts come.

I forget if I posted any pictures of the garden construction process ... here's an older one...

I basically used the natural "riffles" in the dredged gravel piles and built little rock walls across the ends of them to hold the dirt in.

Here's a picture of the garden taken today, after I'd done my planting. It's coming along. I figure I'll add a little to it each year, as I have time.

Lisa beat me to it! I was gonna ask how being "home" is.

And holy shit 11PM sun. A sun-loving nocturnal's dream, that is.

See answer to Lisa. ^_~ And yes ... the summer evenings are one of the things I love most about being here, once I got used to it again. That lovely part of the evening where the sun is all slanting and golden and low ... it lasts FOREVER, it seems like.
