The Birds! The Birds!
Somebody tell Hitchcock...
When I went out this morning, there were birds EVERYWHERE. It rained all night, so I guess that they're making up for lost time. I stood in the woods at the end of the garden for about 10 minutes and I saw...
-a pair of northern flickers (actually the first time I've seen them; they're big birds, and they make a loud TWEE-OO sound -- I'd heard them this morning, lying in bed, and couldn't figure out w hat was making that noise)
-a pair of downy woodpeckers
-white-crowned sparrows
-juncos
-swallows galore (there's been a flock of them hanging around the yard, eating mosquitoes)
I went ahead and walked the dogs down the driveway, where I added chickadees, robins, ravens and sandpipers to the list.
