Fairbanks: 1 million ways to die

It's snowed about 6 inches in the last 24 hours (AAAARGH) and on our way home from work, a big-rig in front of us did a lovely sideways slide. I didn't capture the moment on film, but I got its tracks afterwards.

As the front of the truck was turning, the back end started doing a lovely slow-motion glide sideways. The tracks give some indication of what happened.

This is April, dammit.

The dogs were too much fun tonight. I love watching Lucky try to apply human rules of behavior to his interactions with Izzy. He hasn't yet figured out that humans and dogs use different behavior systems. Tonight, for example, I was playing fetch with him. After we quit doing that, he picked up his favorite little squeaky hedgehog toy and started trying to play fetch with Izzy. He would run in front of her and throw the toy with a flick of his neck, then look at her expectantly. She looks back at him in utter confusion. He picks up the toy, throws it again. Still no reaction.

As far as I can tell, Lucky learned to throw things by watching us throw things for him. I doubt that dogs of his breed naturally do that, but he does it all the time when he's playing with himself: throws a toy, then runs and picks it up, then throws it again.

It's supposed to be 77F today. Yeah, baby!

Heh. This is what you get for saying you loved snow so much back when we did the "Winter Wonderland" Rotating Forum. ^_^

You be nice, or I'm going to make it rain. Cold, soaking rain.

The idea of dogs playing fetch with each other (or trying to) really cracks me up for some reason. It's like something out of "Animal Farm", where the pigs start walking around on their hind legs. Izzy is probably thinking, "Dude, you've totally gone over to the other side, that's not cool."

Either that or, "Kid, you've got a lot to learn about being a dog."

Heh. Silly dogs. Fetch is for PEOPLE!

Nothing like a big-rig in front of you plowing the road in front of you... with it's side!

That's a great snapshot.

Thanks!

Things like that are more fun in retrospect...
