*collapse*
It was warm this week (in the 20s), but now the temperature is dropping ... it's supposed to be twenty below zero tonight. It hasn't really stopped snowing for a month and a half, but it snows very little at one time -- "sifts" would be a better verb than "snows", because you just get a light dusting of snow at a time. Well, except a couple nights ago, when we got a good dumping. My half mile of driveway is getting really hard to navigate. Time to get it plowed again. Time, also, for a good shoveling session around the house. I need to dig out my coal pile and my assorted woodpiles. It's getting to the point where the tarps are so loaded down with snow that it's difficult to move them to get at the fuel underneath.
I'm in my usual Friday night state ... exhausted and ready to fall down. I did Christmas shopping this evening after work, and also picked up 15 more gallons of heating oil for the crawlspace heater, since I was out near the one gas station in town that sells diesel at the heating-oil price. I have a bunch of things to do this weekend, including more Christmas shopping (I gotta get all the out-of-state stuff in the mail SOON), de-snowing the woodpiles and chopping/chainsawing more of the unsplit wood -- doing it on an as-needed basis, in the dark and worn out from work, is not working out very well. And, of course, taking the dogs for some good long walks to knock the edge off Lucky's energy level.
I discovered a great tire-out-the-puppy game tonight. Lucky hasn't quite got the hang of "fetch" yet: if you throw something, he'll take it to the couch to chew on it. One of his favorite chew-things is a rope toy that he's managed to chew in half. Tonight I found that I can stand by the couch and throw one half of the rope across the room; he'll run to get it and come back to settle down for a nice chewing session. Then I dangle the other half in front of his face and throw it across the room. He drops the one he's chewing on, and runs to get the new one. Repeat as necessary.

Only in Alaska can you get away with saying that.
Whoof.

It's all relative, I guess. ^_^
It's -20 right now. They were forecasting as cold as -35 last night, so I feel we got off lightly.
