I don't know why this is so surprising to me, but the puppies seem to be grokking paper training. Not a single mess tonight that was off the papers, in spite of me leaving them unattended while I drew Kismet pages tonight. (Not completely unobserved -- they're downstairs, I'm in the loft, and I watch them over the railing, but I don't exactly practice constant vigilance.) Weirdly, they almost seem to be housetraining *themselves*. Their papers in their pen are very often clean when I take them outside, and they seem to have gotten the idea that it's better to go outside than inside from the very beginning.

Most of my pictures of cool WWII-era moss-covered military stuff on Kodiak turned out blurry. Bugger. That island looks so much like the video game "Myst" ... big tall trees, jagged rocks sticking out of the water, random moss-covered architecture in the woods...

Those are some great pictures, Layla.

I especially like this one...but then, I like the way abandoned buildings look after they've sat around for a couple of decades. I think it's the way that weathering takes a building--all straight lines and 90-degree angles--and makes it look more like something that belongs in nature. Even more so if it has some moss or bushes or a big ol' tree growing out of it.

And it does look very "Myst", doesn't it? All it needs is a '50s-style rocket ship in the background....
