Flamingo sky

Beautiful sunset tonight, now that the smoke's gone away and you can see the sky again.

I'm thinking about adding a section of my website for "photo of the day" or something like that, rather than loading my journal with them.

Tonight I worked in the yard for a while, picking up broken glass left by the previous owners. It's much nicer to be outside than it has been for the last couple of weeks ... still a little hazy, but you can breathe without choking.

Taking a break, I walked over to check on the beaver dam (the beaver is back, and the dam has almost completely blocked off the culvert now) and met two of my neighbors doing the same thing. They're very nice -- we ended up going back to their place and having coffee. (Which is why I'm still up; I really should not have caffiene at night ... but I did get a lot more cleaning done until it got dark!)

That's really pretty. And yay for meeting neighbors. I hope you guys can become good friends at the very least.

Thanks, Trisha! Yeah, they seem very nice and fun to talk to, and they gave me some produce out of their garden and offered to pick me up some things at the store since they were making a run down there tonight. They're also cool with leaving the beaver alone to do its thing without trouble. They told me that every couple of years a beaver tries to dam up the culvert, and eventually the mine road people notice it and kill it ... but they also said that nobody seems to be using the road lately, except the gravel pit neighbor who doesn't mind the beavers either, so this one may be able to live unmolested for a while.
