layla | Sun-Cutter pages 2 & 3 (double-page spread)

Cloud city! This city was originally going to be set on the ground level, and I'd done a number of layout sketches for this page with the city on the edge of a big crater or canyon. But the clouds outside the window on the previous page spurred the idea of a city in the sky, and I couldn't resist the visual. Those are slightly flexible/extensible tunnel tubes connecting the individual towns/cities to each other; there are also flying vehicles about.
