All the spaceships in Kismet look like flying Winnebagos. In fact, I don't seem to be capable of designing a spaceship that doesn't look like a flying Winnebago.

I like to think that it's just the 27th century aesthetic, which considers short and boxy the height of cool. Yeah. That's it.

This bit of randomocity brought to you by my attempts to design a ship for Jude's gun runners that looks like something other than a flying bus, and failing miserably.

But new Kismet pages will begin updating on Dec. 1!

Winnebagos

HA! Many moons ago, I was art GoH for a local con, ConFusion (and got to have dinner with Marvin Minsky and Connie Willis, but that's a story for another time...). The theme that year was "ConFusion of the Winnebagos (http://www.stilyagi.org/cons/1998/confusion.html)," and I was asked to contribute the T-shirt design: A Winnebago in outer space. The resulting tee image looked rather like the one you see here (http://www.stilyagi.org/cons/1998/confusion.html), with the added gag of "Take 'er to Warp Five and let's see what happens when we turn on the headlights!"


Woo.
