When dinner attacks

Well, that was ... more excitement than I generally want in my kitchen. Lifted a pan of boiling pasta off the stove to drain off the water, and the cheap plastic handle broke right off! I jumped back fast enough to avoid being scalded (you should have seen me jump back!) and water and pasta went all over the whole kitchen floor. Well, it needed to be washed anyway. And I'm still hungry, damn it.

This is in keeping with today's general theme, which is me accidentally breaking things. ^^;; I worked on "Chickenhouse Extreme Makeover" today, i.e. ripping out the old perches (which aren't particularly chicken-ergonomic) and putting in new ones -- I got the top perch all screwed to the wall (a much longer process than it sounds like when I type it), leaned on it to test its structural integrity and snapped it right in half. I suppose it's better to find out now than to have a chicken-related disaster in the middle of the night, but STILL.

The phrase "chicken-related disaster" makes me giggle. Glad you're okay and unscalded.

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the top perch, but it would be like tipping a bunch of feathery dominos! I can just imagine the resulting chicken-lanche.

You could call it "Palin Pasta" ... it attacks without warning.

[sighing, wiping eyes]

No, I suppose it wasn't very damn funny, but it made ME laugh.

Hee! It could be a new trend in culinary fashion (though, for the sake of my kitchen floor, I really hope not).

Eep! Glad that you - and the chickens! - are okay.

Are the chickens now stranded with no top perch?

Yeah, but they weren't using the old one anyway, so it's not like they're worse off than they were before. This weekend I'll get them fixed up.
