WTF?

How can it be -30 and SNOWING? Isn't this some kind of law-of-nature violation or something?

I'm not complaining, really ... this is actually our first real cold snap of the year, which is really incredible considering that it's already January. And so far, it's not bad at all. Supposed to be -45 tonight, but I doubt if it'll actually get that cold out at our place.

I tend to forget, when it's not happening, that the subjective difference between -10 and -40 isn't much to a human being ... not nearly as much as, say, the difference between 10 and 40. This kind of cold is really not that big a deal. It's a little annoying that it would happen to be the first week that I'm working part-time, though. On the other hand, I guess this'll keep me indoors, working, since it's not so pleasant to be outside.

Yeah ... I used to live in an apartment where the doorknob would freeze up. And that was a cold winter! My roommate and I kept having to take apart the stupid thing and stuff a towel in the hole in the door at -50 in order to thaw and dry out the parts. (It would get condensation in it and then it'd freeze.)
