(no subject)

I started to write a long, politically themed post regarding the outcomes of the various elections. Then I realized that I didn't want to. I'm tired of politics and tired of thinking about it. I'll just post a picture of the dog instead.

He sleeps that way a lot. He really has no shame. Neither do I, obviously.

Aww...woobie woobie woobie!

He just looks so silly and adorable when he's sleeping that way; the temptation to mess with him is almost overwhelming. Luckily he's a mellow dog and doesn't wake up snappy.

Now, is this the "spin art" dog that sprayed the room with -- ?

Yep, that's the very dog.

"Thought I recognized that butt."

[laughing]

Oh dear. I am sorry. I'm beginning to believe that terminal cuteness when sleeping is a genetic trait for survival among pets that pee and poop all over everything.

If it makes you feel better (and it probably won't), every time I'm ready to adopt out Beta, my desert tortoise, because he poops all over the deck where I leave him outside during the day ... in the evening when I come home, he's sprawled out and sleeping, and he looks so damn cute that I instantly curb any tendencies to give him away.

I swear, it's a defense mechanism. "You can't give me away, I'm cute when I'm sleeping!"

I think *all* pets have that, or else they wouldn't survive through all the annoying things that they do.

Shiva (the cat)'s annoyance-to-cute ratio has been tipping dangerously into the red zone lately. He's been waking me up every single morning between about 4 and 6 a.m. -- and I'm one of those people who has a very hard time falling back asleep after being awakened. To add insult to injury, this morning he destroyed my favorite pair of headphones. Beware the bored cat, for he shall drive you completely frikkin' insane.
