I have the bestest husband

He drives the truck for me when I'm being a giant wimp and don't want to drive on ice.

Actually the roads *are* better today than yesterday -- but try telling my nerves that. I'm also pretty sure that, barring some astounding miracle, the snow is here to stay. And it's getting colder ... the temperature -- according to the thermometer in the truck -- was 17F at the coldest point of the drive into town (more like 24F *in* town).

Winter, I believe, is here.

It definitely is here. My freezing toes say it is.

Time to get some warm fuzzy socks ...

I could not get my winter tires on fast enough, yeesh. (long story there, all is done now...woohoo)
Yep, if the feet are happy it makes it all good:)

it's so nice having someone on here that lives in fairbanks. everyone else i know on here is from back in detroit or elsewhere. i enjoy reading something from someone having the same thing going on.
oh, and by the way, what did you decide about the strips, about weather and seasons and such? i remember there being some decision making over whether or not to follow the real time weather?

Heh ... I realized that if I just sped up fall a little bit, I could jump seamlessly into winter and still be on track with the real world. Next summer, I'll just do all of my "indoor" and out-of-state storylines so that it's not evident that it's still actually winter for them. Then we'll go through another real-world winter, and by spring, I should be to the spring storylines in the Freebird world. I'm surprised how well it works out.

I agree with you about how nice it is to read other Fairbanks blogs. It's surprisingly cathartic to know that you're not the only one dealing with this stuff.
