Waaahhhhhh

According to today's News-Miner, the slow migration of the magnetic North Pole has sped up in recent years. It's moving fast enough that it may be in a completely different place in a few decades, taking the auroras with it.

In less than 50 years, the story reports, Alaskans may not be able to see auroras anymore. The aurora borealis would still be happening, of course, just ... not here.

It's really a startling thought. Of course, it's all just guesswork, as usual.

EDIT: The News-Miner story is not online, but there's a link to the original AP story here.
