I've posted the solutions to the song meme in that thread. See below to assauge your no-doubt-burning curiosity. I was a little surprised no one got the Sheryl Crow one, but it is true that the first line I posted from that song was pretty vague.
I'll be heading out of town this weekend to drive down to Wasilla and visit with my folks. Leaving early Saturday, coming back late Sunday (most likely). I should dust off my cassettes and see if I have anything bearable for a long drive, since there are no radio stations once you lose the Fairbanks ones until you can start picking up the Anchorage ones -- thus, at least 4 hours of the 6-hour drive is music-less, and all I have in the car is a cassette player. (The Taurus didn't even have that much, so I was reduced to listening to headphones when the radio failed me.) My musical tastes have changed a lot since the early '90s. I guess it's vaguely appropriate that a nostalgic trip home should be accompanied by the likes of Little Texas and Michael Jackson.
I wonder if I could talk my loved ones into getting me an iPod for Christmas ....
The swift slide into autumn, and hence to winter, has begun with the speed and subtlety of an avalanche. The aspens and birch are glorious gold. Although the seasons won't be that advanced down the Anchorage way (I doubt if they even have many colors yet), it's still a lovely time for a long-ish drive. I adore this time of year, in all its ephemeral beauty. One of the few things I liked about living in Illinois was that the fall lasted a long time. Here, it's over before it's barely begun.
Work update, in a nutshell: I still have 2 weeks of Kismet done (not counting this week). Most likely, I'll start working on that again after I get back. Freebird is definitely going on hold for a few months. Again. This time I'll wait to start it again until I know I can keep to a regular schedule. Midnight Sun, on the other hand, has already begun -- I'll post the weekend's update early, if I remember.
The reason why I'm working on MS right now, and not Freebird, is because MS has a full script completed, and so it's my shiny new toy. Freebird is still deep in scripting woes.

Autumn is gorgeous here -short maybe, but at least you have one. Florida's Autumn and Winter is just "less green" and "less hot".
My vote is for the ipod mini...fashionable, plenty of music and you can pick what you want to hear- though the shuffle is much less money.
