Critterhouse

I got ... dogs. Three of them.

There was a weird kind of serendipity to it. I had been looking for a dog for a month or so, somewhat halfheartedly, and there weren't any that fit my specifications. All the dogs I could find were too big or unfriendly or ... whatever. Then I had that dream about Frisky, and suddenly it was as if every time I turned around, there was a dog that met every one of my criteria (medium-sized dog of a good breed to make a family dog; not too big; not too wild; either a very young puppy or a mellow older dog, etc).

I am now the proud (and slightly frazzled) owner of two 6-week-old puppies (so far unnamed) and an older grown-up dog whose name is now IzzyBee. The animal shelter, where I got her from, called her Isabella, which was too much of a mouthful so I started calling her IzzyBee.

The puppies are spaniel/retriever mixes, littermates; the adult is a Something. I can't even figure out what sort of breeds she's got in her. Right now she's at the vet's getting spayed (one of the conditions of adoption from the shelter, but I would have gotten it done anyway) and the vet couldn't tell either, although she thought maybe there was some Australian shepherd -- she told me she'd poll the staff and get back to me. :D The shelter called her a spaniel mix, and yes, there might be a little bit of spaniel, as well as a dozen other things.

I hope I don't drive myself crazy, dumping three dogs into my life. I'm already running myself ragged, trying to keep up with everything I have to do, and now I have dogs ... I must be mad. Orion will probably think so when he finds out about this. (You know, I have no idea if my husband reads my Livejournal. I guess I'll find out.)
