I got the blues (but in a good way)

It's blueberry season here in Alaska, and we went berry-picking on Sunday.

So many berries! It's a really good blueberry harvest this year. We even found quite a few berries in the swamp on the back side of our property, where I've never seen the bushes make anything worth picking before.

Ridiculous blueberry-eating dog. Lucky loves berries of all sorts, but the way he eats them is by, basically, taking his mouth and his long dog-tongue and going GLAAAAAMMMMPH to the bush. The few berries that he manages to swallow are more than offset by all the other berries that are thoroughly dog-slimed. It's something we have to watch out for while picking berries ... DO NOT FOLLOW THE DOG. But there are enough for everyone.

While I was washing the berries, a red leaf floated to the surface and made such a lovely image that it had to be memorialized. This was taken with my husband's camera, not mine, which does much nicer close-ups. (Some of you may have seen this one on Facebook.)

Mmmm, summer in Alaska. :) Hard to believe autumn is one brief month away ...
